Dunya Zakharova
Artist, illustrator, clothes and furniture designer
The versatility and authenticity of Dunya is manifested in different genres — painting, graphics, sculpture, performances. Giving an emotional dimension to abstract forms is the main motive of her work. The emotions can be completely different — loneliness, suffering caused by extreme weather conditions, as well as tenderness, love. All of her works are distinguished by careful work with the material, the purpose of which is the maximum expressiveness of the finished object. The images that eventually appear in Dunya’s works seem like fantastic creatures from fairy tales, dreams, or our subconscious fears.
Dunya took part in exhibitions in the «Osnova» gallery, at the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art and in ART4 museum, at the Manege Central Exhibition Hall, in museums and galleries of Paris, Toulouse, Grenoble. Hosts her own personal exhibitions. For instance, the multidisciplinary project «Hysteria», where installation, sculptures, video, music, drawing, embroidery, painting and performance will be combined into a single whole. «-77.8°C», another exhibition, is about permafrost and the limits of human capabilities. It was this lowest recorded temperature in the artist’s homeland. The exhibition demonstrates the impact of extreme living conditions on human sensations.
