
Nikolay Mikheev
Composer, Chairman of the Union of Composers of Yakutia, Chairman of the Yakut representative office of the Youth Branch of Composers Union of Russia.
Graduated from the Higher School of Music of the Republic of Sakha with a degree in piano, the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory, postgraduate studies of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in composition. In 2013, received a diploma of the International Competition of Musicians «Composer of the XXI Century» in Moscow. Now, he is teaching special courses at the Department of History and music theory at the Higher School of Music. He is also the founder of digital music and music arrangement courses. Nikolay conducts active pedagogical, creative, concert, touring activities. His works include the opera «Yuko and Aneke», the symphonic fantasy «Taas Haya», the symphonic poem «Arctic», the ethno-ballet «Black Fox», the music for the cinema: «Kyun Timni Aerei, Dyolloh Dyonno Ichigas», «Semenchik», «Nyurguyunnar», «Ayi Walla»,”My Killer" among other things. He is the organizer of the annual «International Far Eastern Symphony Forum» for young composers and music critics, on the basis of the Higher School of Music. He uses ethic Yakut music instruments. For instance, Kyrympu, a Yakut violin, and khomus were used in «Stone Mountain». He seeks to achieve the effect of «erasing time» in his works. «If we talk about composition, there should be no perception of time in the work. I set this task for myself: to deceive time with music.»
