Kostas Marsaan

In 2005 graduated from Higher Courses of Screenwriters & Directors (workshop of Alla Surikova and Vladimir Fokin). Worked in the television industry in Yakutsk, in advertising, edited Yakut films. Tried acting, staged the «Yuko and Aneke» opera and the «Black Fox» ballet. In 2017, won for «Best director» at the XV International Debut Film Festival «The Spirit of Fire» for «My Killer». In 2021, «Spirit of Itchi» horror film was released in Russia, which in 2020 was represented by the Russian Federation in the competition program at the Sitges Film Festival, a leading horror film. While making the film, the crew consulted local historians, and even shamans. In 2021 he began working on the «Detector», a mystical thriller, at the Gorky Film Studio in Moscow. The main roles were played by Ekaterina Vilkova, Kirill Käro, Katya Temnova. It was released in November 2021. «The main trick of cinematography is to satisfy the need of people to recognize the world they live in on screen. That was the reason why the Yakut cinema appeared.»
