Pert Khiki

Director, producer

Yakut film insustry enthusiast. The process of film production captured Khiki as a child. He had some success working in a school television studio. The young director was greatly influenced and impressed by «The Silence of the Lambs», a horror film directed by Jonathan Demme. His first major work came with «Fire in the Wind», a film by Dmitry Davydov, where he served as the editor, followed shortly by films like «Karel. Invisible beauty», «Republic Z», «Beyberikeen», «Rescuer». «The Cursed harp», a horror film, was his first indie work. The debut turned out to be a success. The viewers were captured by terrible, unnerving scenes, occurring in the ordinary Yakut village. This film won the top prize «Flowers of Taiga Hope» for «Best film» in the competition of Russian debuts at the XVII international «Spirit of Fire» festival, as well as the first place at the Far Eastern festival of fiction and amateur cinema «Point of return». For Khiki, lighting and sound play a big role — his films are atmospheric, easily recognizable by the picture. Lighting is a complex but effective technique that can change the mood, composition, and even the genre. «We need films to experience emotions that are lacking in ordinary life.»
