
Mira Argunova
Realism painter
Mira Argunova’s paintings were exhibited at 50 international, national and regional exhibitions in Russia, the United Kingdom, the United States and Mongolia, including 12 solo exhibitions. In 2018, one of her paintings was featured in the «best paintings of the Far East» long list and presented at the Far East XII regional art exhibition. In 2018, Mira Argunova also received honorary diplomas at two international competitions in fine arts and the title of winner of the Republican Award for exhibition of young artists «Spring in December», named after Valerian Vasiliev. As of today, 19 books with illustrations by the artist have been published. Her paintings are stored in the collections of the National Art Museum of the Sakha Republic, National Museum of the Republic of Altai named after Andrey Anokhin, the State Museum of Khomus, as well as private collections in Russia, Great Britain, the Netherlands and Kazakhstan. One of the priorities of Mira Argunova’s work is the study of the nature of beauty and genius.
The artist mainly adheres to the style of academic realism, working mainly from nature. For the sake of painting from a certain angle necessary for the composition, Mira climbed the mountains to an altitude of 3.8 km above sea level (Muktinath, Nepal, 2019), worked under extreme conditions in the heat and cold. One of the missions for Mira is capturing on canvas the history of images of passionaries’ and outstanding contemporaries. The portraits of more than a dozen famous musicians, artists and directors of theatre and cinema, singers and writers make up the National Heritage series. It is a lifelong project of Mira’s, along with several others related to the nature and culture of Russia and Yakutia, being its part.
She won many prizes and awards of Russian and international competitions, including the Special Prize of the international competition Mellow Art Award 2020 in Japan, a Diploma of the finalist of the international competition Figurative/ Portrait at the Art Show International in Los Angeles, California in 2020, a Diploma of the winner of the international competition «Figurative/ Portrait» of Contemporary Art Gallery Online in Delaware, USA in 2019, a Diploma of the winner of the republican young artists competition named after Valerian Vasiliev, a Diploma and Honorable Mention of the international contest «Magic lantern», «Graphics and porcelain» in graphics category.
